Starting from Lake Le Bandie, you will cycle through the hills of Montello, along the banks of the Piave and arriving up to the Collalto Castle. In these places rich of Italian history you could relive some historical moments, capturing with your eyes what you studied in your school books. With the Medium route we will travel along the roads that will take us to a historical place such as “the island of the dead”, a space of land on the banks of the Piave river, belonging to the municipality of Moriago della Battaglia. In this place you could go back to an historical moment of the First World War, when in October 1918 thousand of young soldiers have been killed in the last austrian offensive. Thanks to this battle the conditions were created for the victory of the Italian army on 4 November.

The landscape of the Isle of the Dead is almost a painting in which historical elements, memories and, above all, nature are mixed with the Piave river as a backdrop. Today the Isle of the Dead is a monumental area covering an area of approximately 100 hectares and develops as a beautiful natural environment, full of trees and meadows. The area flows into a square where there is the memorial stone for the fallen, the chapel and other relics of the First World War.
